Good one! I have worked hard on discernment in the last few years...at the airport when we were getting an uber a man came up and said he worked for delta and as a courtesy he would get us a taxi...he had the little wings they give the kids for flying...discernment and gut instinct are worth so much...in a world full of lies.
I think it's always been bad - hucksters and flimflammers have been around for ever - but seems like nowadays the lying and scamming is at peak in every category. We really do need to be on guard at all times. Armored up! I cannot imagine what that scam was except I can but don't want to. 😬
A helpful, thoughtful post, friend. The Holy Spirit specializes in guiding believers into all truth (John 16) but we must be willing and able to hear and follow His lead.

I agree--discernment is part nature and part nurture, like so many qualities. It also grows as we walk with God, learning from him and growing in understanding of truth.
Wow! Those are some crazy emails! I used to think discernment was a gift that one either had or didn’t, and I didn’t think I had it. Now, I realize that I had more than I thought and that it can be developed further. Perhaps it’s maturity that teaches us the necessary skill of discernment. Thanks!
Yes I agree maturity is a strong contributor but I know some not so wise elders too so I still think it's a combo of things including basic common sense. I see reports every day from some older lady who was duped out of her life savings by someone she met online. Really? Never in person?
